About
Name: Marlize van Romburgh
Summary: I recently graduated from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo with a bachelor’s in journalism and a minor in economics and am now working as the assistant managing editor at the Pacific Coast Business Times in Santa Barbara.
The Business Times is the weekly business journal for the tri-county region that encompasses Ventura, Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo counties in California. I consider myself lucky to work at a publication that lets me hone my dual interests in business/finance/economics and journalism, all the while living and working in gorgeous Santa Barbara.
That said, I’d eventually like to work my way up to a metropolitan business publication where I would hope to continue as a business reporter or editor. My interests in journalism are widespread and I’ve found that I enjoy graphic design and multimedia almost as much as traditional writing and editing. Despite the difficulties facing the news industry right now, I also think this is an exciting time to be a young journalist and to have the opportunity to help develop the new tools and business models that will shape 21st century journalism.
Specialties: Business reporting, economics, new media and multimedia, managing and editing, graphic design.
